How To Find The Right Red Lipstick For YOUR Complexion

Do red lips seem to look ravishing on everyone else?
There is a perfect red lip just for you! I've worked with a bevy of beauties of every complexion and there is a red that flatters everyone, in fact, most women look great in a variety of reds!

Surprised? Don't be. Women around the world have one thing in common, beautiful red blood runs through all of our veins!

The standard guideline is to select a red with a similar undertone to yours. If your skintone is more yellow/golden, perhaps a warm, orange-based red. Pinker complexions may reach for a berry-red. True, blue-based reds flatter many! But beauty rules are made to be broken!

Opposites attract, and that's often true when choosing the perfect red lipcolor. Thus, yellow/golden undertones often look gorgeous in pink or fuschia toned reds. Pink undertones are surprised to find they can wear some juicy orange reds.

The best route to the perfect red is to TRY IT ON. Play it safe with a sheer tint or gloss or pump up the volume with intense formulas. Above all have fun...and keep it pretty!

Hip or Hype?! NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream

NYX Soft Matte Lipcream. The concept is genius! Light-as-air lipcolor that applies soft and creamy, but sets to a velvety matte finish! Of course I want to love it, but do I?

The Nyx Cosmetics brand is beloved by beauties on a budget. And no wonder with their great selection of low cost makeup that follows the high-end trends in colors and products.

The challenge is that what we save in cost, we may have to spend in effort to get the product to perform. I find that true of the Soft Matte Lip Cream. They come in great colors and glide on, but they dry to an uneven, high maintenance finish.  Lots of people love them, but I can't say the same (now the Matte Lipsticks and I hit it off...more later). Overall I say it's a HIP idea, but a HYPED up product. What did you think?

Until next time,
Keep it Pretty!

Wet n Wild n Just Plain Pretty! - Color Icon 8 Palette

Wet n Wild Comfort Zone
Pretty doesn't have to be pricey as Wet n Wild Cosmetics keeps proving. I had not played with the brand in quite some time, but vividly remember the pretty n popular 3 digit lipliner that gave MAC Cosmetic's Spice a run for its money. In fact, a few years ago Wet n Wild's cream luminizer was one of my secret weapons for model's legs on photo shoots.

What brought me back to the brand was the bargain beauty buzz  about these Wet n Wild Color Icon Palettes (numbered 736, 737 and 738). With 8 shades at $5.99 what did I have to lose? Off to (multiple) Walgreen's I went!

Wet n Wild Petal Pusher
The shades pop in the packaging and much to my surprise, many are even prettier on the skin. I'm a vivid vixen but Comfort Zone, the neutral focused palette stole my heart. I love every shade (minus the left browbone pale gold which is a bit chalky). The Definer is a great duplicate for MAC's gorgeous Blue Brown pigment. In fact all the definers have good color payoff. Other pretty standouts are the teal, navy and black w/blue sparkle in the Blue Had Me at Hello palette, along with the purples in Petal Pusher.

I was so prettily surprised, I picked up the cream liner and two matte lipsticks....oh and a nail polish. I know, I know. But I do it all for you LOL! Stay tuned for how to videos demonstrating prettiness for pennies using Wet n Wild cosmetics. Until then, keep it pretty!
