HEAVY METAL - How to Wear Metallic Eyeshadow

Few things mesmorize like metallic eyes! Which is why metallic eyeshadows are always plentiful at every price point (wish we could say the same for gold and platinum ;). These tips will help you go "Glammy" rather than looking like a "Grammy".

  • Pressed powders are best for beginners. If you choose a loose pigment, do eyes before foundation, then cleaning up any fall-out will be a breeze
  • Build color gradually rather than try to pack it on all at once
  • Soft eye brushes provide a soft sheen, firm bristles pack on a metallic pop
  • Applying a matching metal cream base will insure extra shine and longer wear (especially with drugstore-quality formulas)
  • A damp (NOT wet) brush provides a liquid metal finish

HAIR WE GO! Hairstyles for YOUR Face Shape!

Customize your next cute "cut" with a face flattering hairstyle that frames YOUR unique face shape! Here are a few mane guidelines (but don't get too caught up in "rules" and don't forget to have fun!):

HEART SHAPE - Soft, side-swept bangs can accentuate eyes and draw the focus away from a pointed chin

SQUARE SHAPE - A mono-length bob can be a little severe on square face shapes. An angled cut with long pieces in front that gradually get shorter toward the back can elongate rather than widen the face

ROUND SHAPE - Cheekbone-grazing layers that flip out away from the face can be flattering. Multi-dimensional highlights are pretty around the face, fading into deeper tones towards the back of the head

OVAL SHAPE - This shape has the freedom to go with blunt or rounded bangs (although bangs that go too far past the edge of brows can actually make the face appear square) Adorable pixie cuts are also super cute, especially when the top's left a little longer to add softness

You're So Vain: Organize Your Makeup & Accessories Vanity!

SOMETIMES A LITTLE VANITY IS GOOD...WHEN IT'S ORGANIZED!

A girls' vanity should be treasured, not trashed. A little organization and getting ready will be a dream instead of a nightmare. You'll actually be able to SEE & ENJOY all those pretty purchases you've accumulated (and the only investment really required is a little time)

1. TRASH ALL (YES, ALL) those ancient unused cosmetics, toiletries, samples, accessories etc. If you can't bear to trash them, donate or give them to a pre-teen (they'll love it)

2. Just a FEW decorative Tea cups, tiered cake stands, decorative plates, or trays are beautiful ways to store and display your fragrances & cosmetics

3. Glass or Metal Jars are great for brushes

2. Picture frames are space saving ways to hang earrings and accessories. Remove the glass, hang on wall, and use a cardboard or cork-board backing & hooks

4. Utensil organizers (like the ones for kitchen drawers) keep drawers sorted & tidy

5. Now go forth and enjoy being a girl!

Lipliner Tips and Tricks That Don't CROSS THE LINE!

Sometimes blurred lines are good, especially in the case of lip liner. Lipliner is great for enhancing the shape of the lips and keeping lipcolor in place, but hard lip liner is out of bounds!

1. Customize the coveted "nude lip" to suit your personal skintone. Select a lipliner just 1 shade *darker* than your own lip tone (this is lighter than most people think), blend over entire lip and top with a gloss 1 shade *lighter* than your natural lips...naturally delicious!

2. For a multi-dimensional look, select a lipliner that is darker but in the *same* family as your main lipcolor. SOFTLY trace lipline (rather than draw like the kid who used to break the crayons). Blend, blend, blend toward the middle of the lip, then softly blend in the main shade.

3. Matte lipstick applied with a precision brush makes for lovely lipliner that appears soft.

Blushing Beauty - How to Wear Blush The Pretty Way!

No one wants to look like a "clown" (except clowns, of course) and that's one of the main reasons many shy away from blush. But a pretty pop of color and/or shimmer on the cheeks gives a gorgeous glow to every girl.

Tips n' Tricks
You don't need a ton of brushes, but a good, soft blush brush is an essential (ditch that plastic-y imposter that comes with the blush)

Use a feather-like touch to pick up blush onto your brush (don't swirl)

Build gradually so color appears to come from within, rather than sitting on top

Apply in a gentle sweeping motion instead of in rough back & forth strokes

Practice, practice, practice. Don't be afraid, it washes off and once you perfect it, you won't want to pass up on this pretty product!
